12km cliffs walkway goes ahead

Gordon Deegan

A 12km walkway along the Cliffs of Moher will go ahead, despite a legal land row between two neighbours along the route.

The €400,000 Doolin to Liscannor walk, which takes in the entire Cliffs of Moher stretch to Hag's Head, will open later this month in spite of the council being unable to upgrade the whole walkway due to the dispute.

Landowner Michael O'Brien of Lurraga, Doolin, has an injunction against his neighbour Joseph Connole of Lough South, Liscannor in relation to part of the walkway.

Lands belonging to 39 landowners border the walkway and the boundary dispute centres on lands on the Old Doolin Cliffs of Moher Road. Mr O'Brien has had an injunction in place against his neighbour interfering with his property since last October.
