A learner driver in Limerick found out the hard way that flattery will get you nowhere.

The cheeky motorist adorned their car with window and bumper stickers reading “Ur lookin well Garda” and “Yes Garda I did see the speed sign, I just didn’t see you!”

A member of the Garda Traffic Corps stopped the driver on Monday after noting several offences, including a lack of registration plates.

Gardaí said the provisional driver had only been driving since June 20 and was not accompanied by a qualified driver, as is required by law.

Mayorstone Garda managed to take a few photos of the vehicle, which were later shared on the official Garda Twitter account.

“10/10 for effort ! Pity about offences, no accomp driver, no reg, only driving a month," they wrote.

The Garda traffic officers added that the driver would be issued with a fixed charge penalty notice in the post.
