Insider Foodie Thursday: Bloom in the Park
Bloom isn’t just for the botanically minded with the return of the Food Village at Bloom
There will be over 100 Irish food and drink producers and more than 25 cookery demonstrations taking place this weekend when Bloom returns to Phoenix Park for another botanically themed Bank Holiday weekend from Thursday 29th of May until Monday 2nd June 2014.
Bord Bia launched its gardening, food and family festival earlier this month with news that the gastronomical side of Bloom has grown even larger, creating even more opportunities for delicious treats for visitors over the weekend.
The Artisan Food Market will be bulging with some of the best Irish artisan foods, with the producers themselves on hand to tell us more about their goods while the Quality Kitchen stage will see some of Ireland’s favourite chefs – including NEven Maguire, Catherine Fulvio and Donal Skehan - sharing their culinary knowledge.
The Bloom Inn returns to celebrate some of Ireland’s best craft beers while the Irish Cheese Awards 2014 will take place over the weekend, with Keelings, the Irish family farm who produce some of our yummiest fresh fruit will be bringing a 20m growing tunnel to Bloom. You’ll get the chance to find out how fruit is grown on the Keelings farm as well as finding out more about their produce which includes strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and gooseberries.
There will be so much to taste, sip and learn about. It’s one of my favourite food weekends. I love having a walk around the Artisan Food Market to discover new producers and picking up a treat or two to enjoy while walking through the innovative display gardens. I usually like the gardens with a food theme best and this year I’m particularly looking forward to seeing Edible Woodland, a garden highlighting the culinary, medicinal and practical uses of woodland species.
