Insider Beauty Tuesdays: 100 Years of Glam
Max Factor's are celebrating 100 years of glamour with a nod to iconic heroines of the past
Global Creative Design Director (and make up artist extraordinaire) Pat McGrath has recreated some of the most iconic and influential beauty looks from the past and Gwyneth Paltrow has stepped up to be her modern muse.
First up, the classic, never-dating 50s style of Audrey Hepburn whose signature winged liner and bushy brows were the look of the decade. Brows are back with a bang, although old-fashioned, this look is far from dated.
Paltrow loved this look, "she's my style icon" she said of Audrey Hepburn. "The make up is beautiful and so wearable - it's really gorgeous".
Anyone can try this simple style at home. Recreate the brows using Max Factor Eyebrow Pencil, €6.69. Choose a darker shade to fill in sparse areas and a lighter shade where there's naturally more hair for an even finish. Always make sure to sharpen the pencil first and draw on individual hairs in short strokes following the natural hair growth.
The signature fifties flick can be created using Colour X-pert Eyeliner in Black, €8.99. The line should start off thinner at the inner corner of the eyes, before thickening to the widest point at the outer corner, then tapering off into a fine point. Use pointed cosmetic cotton buds to sharpen the flick and fix mistakes, but be quick before it dries - as this one is waterproof so once set it won't budge!
Keep an eye out for the other decades of glamour appearing from Max Factor this Summer.
