Woman driver dies in single car collision where her car lost control

Gardai are investigating a fatal single car collision outside Ferbane in Offaly

Gardai in Banagher are investigating a one-car accident that occurred in Offaly today.

A woman in her late 40s was fatally injured when her car lost control and left the road.

The accident happened on the Ballycumber road (R436) around two kilometres east of Ferbane at about 4pm.

She was the sole occupant and no other vehicles were involved.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and her body has been removed to The Midlands Regional Hospital in Tullamore.

This stretch of road is currently closed pending completion of an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.
