TV3 have confirmed they would be interested in talking to new Newstalk presenter Pat Kenny for future TV projects.
The commercial TV station said Kenny’s wealth of experience would be of huge benefit to them.
“We haven’t spoken to Pat yet but we’d certainly consider it,” TV3 told the Irish Independent.
It was announced today that Pat Kenny has quit national broadcaster RTÉ for Newstalk with immediate effect.
The broadcaster, who worked with RTE for 41 years, said he has no immediate plans for television but hopes to make a return to the small screen in the future.
Kenny will begin his new mid-morning show for Newstalk on September 2 and will be in direct competition with his old slot in RTÉ.
TV3 said they were surprised by the news that Kenny had quit RTE for a new role on Newstalk.
“We only heard the news that he was leaving RTÉ this morning like everyone else so we haven’t had a chance to speak to him yet,” TV3 said.
“Pat Kenny is seen as an institution in Ireland. It really is a shock to everyone’s system.”
