TESCO has announced the creation of 200 jobs with the opening of seven new stores and six mobile phone shops.
Some 80 new jobs will be created before Christmas as part of a €70m investment programme. This includes 48 new jobs from the opening of five new Express convenience stores – one on the Douglas Road in Cork and the others in Dublin, including College Green, Dorset Street, Leonards Corner and Glasnevin. Another 14 jobs will be created with the opening of new Tesco Mobile phone shops in Tesco stores in Maynooth, Tallaght, Drogheda, Clearwater (Dublin), Wilton (Cork) and Clarehall (Dublin).
The retailer is also recruiting 18 third level graduates, as part of its company’s graduate jobs and training schemes. These graduates will be based in stores around the country and at Tesco’s head office in Dun Laoghaire and will involve training internationally as well as Ireland.
A further 120 new jobs will come on line with the opening of new stores in Dundalk and Dun Laoghaire next year. Construction work on these stores is now underway.
