A GARDA INVESTIGATION is underway following the discovery of skeletal human remains in South Dublin last night.
A member of the public discovered the remains at Kilakee Mountain, Rathfarnham, at 7.30pm yesterday evening. The woman was out walking her dog when the animal scurried into some nearby bushes.
After the woman followed her dog into the bushes, she came across the remains and immediately alerted gardai.
It is not clear whether the remains are male or female and are believed to be "very old".
The scene is currently being preserved for a technical examination.
Deputy State Pathologist Dr Curtis is expected to attend the scene today.
Gardai have also called for the services of a senior anthropologist who was expected to arrive at the scene at midday today.
