RTE presenter Maura Derrane has said she may consider a move to UTV when it set up its new channel in Ireland.
But Maura – who started her career in TG4 before moving to TV3 - said she wouldn’t move until the station is up and running.
The Today host is the first big-name presenter to say she would consider an offer from UTV.
“I have moved twice already,” the 43-year-old told RSVP magazine.
“I have worked for every station in the country. I started with TG4, I was eight years with TV3 and now I am with RTE for five years.
"I have sort of done the rounds, although UTV is the one that I haven’t done. I would never look to a station until they are up and running.
“I have always gone on my gut instinct as far as work has been concerned and I have always been very lucky. Who knows, maybe RTE won’t want me next year, you can never rest on your laurels in this industry.”
Currently presenting the Today Show with Daithi O Se, she believes the arrival of UTV in the republic will force TV3 to reshape their schedule.
Maura also hit out at recent claims it is impossible for women to get a job in the media.
“It is no more easy or difficult than in many other employment sectors.”
