A MAN has died in a house fire in the early hours of this morning.
Gardai have sealed off the house for a technical examination.
The fire broke out at a house in Liss, Headford Co Galway shortly after 1am this morning. Two brothers were in the house at the time. While one of the men managed to escape the blaze a second man in his 60s died in the fire.
Three units of the fire brigade and emergency services rushed to the scene of the blaze at 1.15am. The fire had engulfed the entire house and fire crews battled the blaze for close to two hours.
The victim of the fire was found in a bedroom of the home. He was unresponsive when he was removed from the home and brought to University Hospital Galway. He was pronounced dead a short time later. A post mortem examination will now be carried out.
Gardai have now sealed off the house pending a technical examination later today. They say they are presently not treating the death as suspicious but will await the outcome of the post-mortem before deciding the course of the investigation.
