The superstar's European meltdown continues

Canadian superstar Justin Bieber has cancelled a concert in Portugal this week due to "unforeseen circumstances".

The Baby singer, who has come under fire from fans for his erratic behaviour of late, has cancelled one of his two Portugese shows at the Pavilhao Atlantico in Lisbon this week.

A statement was posted on the venue's website, stating: "Due to unforeseen circumstances, Justin Bieber was forced to cancel the second performance in Portugal, March 12."

"The Canadian singer is eager to play for the Portuguese fans on March 11. Holders of tickets valid for March 12 should contact the respective place of purchase to receive a refund within 30 days of the date of the scheduled concert, which ends April 11."

His reps have remained tight-lipped on what exactly the unforeseen circumstances are, but the newly single star was hospitalised last week after collapsing on stage at the O2 in London. A video of The Biebs retaliating against a particularly aggressive paparazzo has also caused much concern for the star, whose behaviour has become increasingly erratic in recent weeks. In the video, he threatens to  ‘"f***ing beat the f***’ out him".

Meanwhile, a barrage of celebrities have come forward to support the star, including Will Smith, whose son Jaden is supporting him on the road. Justin tweeted his thanks, saying: "Love to big man Will Smith for the great talk yesterday. We know the truth and we must stand tall. Love u man! Thanks!"

One Direction's Louis Tomlinson, 21, tweeted: "Although I don’t know him personally, I do wish the press would take it easy on @justinbieber. I really do empathise with him, I don’t see anything out of character in comparison to any other teenagers I know."

Rapper Professor Green also announced his support. "I’m team Bieber on this one. You get the odd pap who’s alright – the rest are weirdos.Imagine having to deal with a******’s following you everywhere and constantly trying to bate you into a response."

Justin recently split with his long-term girlfriend, Disney star Selena Gomez, and his mother Pattie is reportedly trying to orchestrate a reconciliation between the two.

"Selena is incredibly grounded and very mature for one so young," an insider said. "She was a superb, calming influence on Justin and didn't stand for any of his nonsense. She is also just as big a star as him which meant there was no ego with either of them.

"His mum Pattie has been instrumental in trying to reunite the pair and told Justin to reach out. With all the trouble he's been having of late, Selena was one of the first to get in touch and offer her support. The hope is that they will meet up somewhere quiet within the next three weeks. Both have use of a private jet so distance isn't a problem."
