Nidge gets suited and booted filiming the new Love/Hate series
Nidge's tracksuit has become nearly as iconic as Darren's blue hoodie on Love/Hate, but even gangster kingpins have a laundry day. There's few reasons why a drug lord needs a suit, the most important of which would be for funerals.
With series four of filming Love/Hate well underway, actor Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, who plays Nidge, ditched his trademark tracksuit for a much more dapper look - presumably to attend Darren's funeral, who was played by Robert Sheehan.
During the season finale, Nidge arranged for Darren to be killed and fans are eagerly awaiting the next chapter to see how Nidge copes without his right hand man. Also seen dolled up accompanying him is his wife Trish, played by a newly blonde Aoibhinn McGinnity.
But his dapper attire doesn't last for long, and he's back to his trackie best for a meeting with a mystery cast member.
The series is shaping up to be the most explosive yet with filming taking place in Walkinstown, Dublin 12. And there were several unknown actors on location – suggesting new faces will be joining the line up of RTE's gritty gangland drama. Plot lines for the series are being guarded under lock and key. All the actors have to sign waivers agreeing not to reveal storylines before filming commences.
While Irish viewers have been enamoured with the programme since it first hit our screens, with the recent finale watched by an incredible one million viewers, show bosses are hoping for an American love affair.
RTÉ has confirmed that the hit series, which won a total of six IFTA’s just last week, is now in the hands of US distributors which are hopeful a US broadcaster will commission a US version of the series.
