FANS of The Wanted’s Siva Kaneswaran will be heartbroken to find out that the pop star has proposed his long-term girlfriend.

The 25-year-old Dubliner has revealed that his plans to walk down the aisle with partner of six years Nareesha McCaffrey.

Siva turned the tables on his other half by choosing to get down on bended knee at a surprise birthday bash she had planned for him last month.

In an interview with Hello! magazine, Siva admitted he had bought the ring months before his proposal, but was waiting for “the right time”.

He said: “It was like a military operation to plan the proposal. I couldn't even tell the other boys in the band in case they blew the surprise.”

He popped the question with a three-carat diamond solitaire ring which he had specially made for the shoe designer.

“I said to her I wanted a present I would always remember this year by – for you to be my wife.

“I'd bought the ring months before. I'd been trying to figure out the right time.

“I love her, I love every bit of her.”

But it wasn’t entirely smooth sailing for Siva, as Nareesha initially turned him down after being overwhelmed by the event, but she then accepted.

She said: “I'm still in shock. I don't like surprises and he really surprised me, but I was so happy. I can't wait to start planning the wedding.”

Siva and his bandmates Max George, Jay McGuiness, Tom Parker and Nathan Sykes were in Ireland last month to take part in the annual Cheerios Childline concert.

Siva, a former model, was staying tight-lipped on revealing any plans to propose at the time, but told the Herald that he hoped to settle down in Ireland in the future.

“I'd love to live in Ireland with Nareesha, a big house in the country would be great,” he told the Herald.

The full interview is in this week's edition of Hello! magazine which is on sale now.
