Neighbours are in shock following the discovery of a man’s body at his home in Edenderry, Co Offaly this afternoon.

The body of the man, aged in his 60s, was discovered at his home on Sister Senan Court in the village at approximately 2:45pm.

Gardai are treating the death as suspicious, confirming “it’s not a sudden death.”

The man suffered head injuries.

Shocked neighbours said they were stunned to hear of the man’s death.

A neighbour, who lives near the council estate, described the deceased man as “an inoffensive character,” who lived alone and had cared for his elderly mother who did not live with him.

Meanwhile, garda sealed off the house as a forensics team arrived at the scene.
