RICHARD Dunne has been ruled out for the rest of the season and now faces a make or break summer recovery programme for his hip/groin injury.

“It's been the most frustrating thing I've seen with an injury, the amount of times he has stopped-started,” claimed Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert.

“We just have to see how he is going to do in the days and weeks that are coming up,” added Lambert, who has more immediate concerns about Dunne's understudy Ciaran Clark.

“He has still got a little bit of a problem with his shoulder. We'll see how he is,” said Lambert.

Further bad news for Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni comes in the form of Keith Fahey, who has a similar injury to Dunne and won’t play again this season.
