Cork crowned a 'healthy city'
Cork is now officially a 'healthy city', according to the World Health Organisation.
It has been given its new crown along with Copenhagen (Denmark) and Nantes (France).
It means Cork can now present itself internationally as a city that is prioritising the health of its citizens.
Others cities here, including Galway, Waterford and Belfast, have already been designated healthy cities.
Belfast has focused on many new areas of development, including child-friendly environments, active travel planning to increase levels of physical activity and a well-being guide for politicians.
Galway has made progress in the development of sports facilities, developing an age-friendly city, organic gardens and travel safety in the city.
