CHILDREN suffering from attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) are often left waiting for more than a year to see a specialist.
Around 60,000 children here may be living with ADHD, and many go undiagnosed.
The problems were highlighted by the Hyperactivity Attention Deficit Disorder (HADD) family support group to mark ADHD Awareness Week, which began yesterday.
Stephanie Mahony, chair of HADD said: "ADHD affects all aspects of the family's life all the time. Without identification, treatment and management, ADHD can have serious, long-lasting consequences."
Concerned parents can visit www.hadd.ie or call the helpline on 01 8748349.
