Day and time affect surgery
If you are going under the knife for an operation, some experts say that nights, weekends and bank holidays are to be avoided if possible.
Staff are more likely to be tired and staffing levels overall are lower. Laboratory results are slower and doctors on call have to drive in from home.
When scheduling surgery, the time of day matters. Ask for the second or third slot of the morning. Any problems in the team's coordination or machinery are worked out at that stage.
