Apology for move to alter nurse contracts
The nurses from the Philippines who were recruited to work in the hospital said their contracts were changed once they arrived here.
They said they were compelled to do a two-year midwifery course with a loss of ?26,000 in pay.
But last night Dr Michael Robson said the issue would be sorted out and he apologised for the confusion.
Health Minister Mary Harney said she would be concerned that foreign nurses recruited here would have their contracts changed.
Philip McAnenly, industrial relations officer with the IN0 said the matter is now to be referred to the Labour Relations Commission.
