Macra na Feirme has engaged the assistance of Brian Purcell, a judge from the popular TV3 series The Apprentice, to launch a new employment initiative.

A new free e-book for young people seeking employment is now available on Macra's website, www.macra.ie. The e-book gives practical advice for those seeking employment.

The resource was written for Macra by Fidelma Wallace and Liam Horan of Sli Nua Careers, a Galway-based career guidance company.

Macra president Michael Gowing said the resource will provide a practical support for young people who are looking for work.

"I am delighted that Macra na Feirme has this opportunity to support our members in their efforts to gain employment by distributing this comprehensive handbook," Mr Gowing said.

"The personal development of members is central to the goal of Macra and we continue to support members through our training weekends and leadership awards. I hope this handbook will help members through these difficult economic times and assist them to grow their careers."

Ms Wallace said the e-book aimed to give people ways to best portray themselves in CVs and interviews. The employment e-book is available to Macra members and the public.
