It looked like Nidge had been thrown into the lion's cage before the cameras rolled when Love/Hate's cast and crew visited Dublin Zoo.

Filming for season five of the hit crime drama is currently well underway - this time in the pleasant surroundings of Dublin's Phoenix Park.

But Tom Vaughan Lawlor's character was snapped sporting a pretty nasty scar on his forehead that we don't quite recall from last season leaving us guessing as to what we can expect from the next installment.

Cast members have only been given scripts during the past few weeks in the hope that the move will prevent storylines leaking to the press.

However, it has been revealed the season will focus on gardai pursuing crime kingpin Nidge.

Also seen on set outside the Zoo was Mark Dunne playing his role as Ado, part of Nidge's notorious gang.

Fans can also expect a new character in the show played by Paul Ronan, father of actress Saoirse Ronan.
