MILEY Cyrus’s performance at last night’s MTV VMA’s has drawn heavy criticism for its overtly sexual overtones.
The 20-year-old stripped to a gold rubber bikini to perform the hit Blurred Lines with singer Robin Thick, and gyrated and twerked on stage, shaking her bottom in the 36-year-old singer’s face.
One comment on Twitter said: "Miley Cyrus completely embarrassing herself at the #VMA awards. Jesus have some self respect, there's called being sexy, then just darn ugly."
She had promised that her performance would be more controversial that the 2003 kiss between Madonna and Britney Spears, but her behaviour has drawn criticism for the family friendly show.
Performing at Brooklyn's Barclays Center last night the singer brought her video for We Can’t Stop to life as she gyrated with giant teddy bears sticking her tongue out. One photo shared on social media shows Will Smith and his family staring open mouthed during her performance.
Another tweeted: “I still can't believe Miley's mom stood up and clapped after that performance my mom would've bathed me in holy water for the next decade.”
