X FACTOR has found itself at the centre of a new storm of controversy after a producer was seen speaking to Louis Walsh during last night’s tense sing off.
Carolynne Poole and flamboyant Rylan Clark found themselves in the bottom two this week, forcing them to sing for survival.
Louis then made the controversial decision to save Rylan, which sent the show into deadlock – this is when the judges’ vote is tied and the decision is referred back to the original public vote.
The public had placed Poole last, and in the first shock of the series the country singer was sent home instead of Clark – prompting mentor Gary Barlow to storm off stage in anger.
It initially appeared Walsh had chosen to save Poole, however after host Dermot O’Leary asked him to clarify the Mayo man chose to take it to deadlock.
However controversy began to flare online after the show when a picture of a producer speaking to Walsh during the sing off began to circulate.
Show bosses have previously stated that judges do not know the outcome of the public vote before the show – however the incident has led to suggestions online that producers wanted to save the more controversial Rylan Clarke.
UPDATE: ITV have confirmed that the producer seen speaking to Louis during the sing off was X Factor executive producer Richard Holloway.
The two were photographed together along with Nicole Scherzinger after the show last night as they left a restaurant after a late night dinner.
