IT was a case of fourth time unlucky for Dublin Melanie McCabe as she fails to make it beyond judges house.
Melanie was one of the six girls who had made it to the judges houses stage of the show, with only three making it through to the live shows.
She told viewers: "My whole life depends on this, it's the biggest day of my life, it's do or die."
Although the talented girl gave a strong performance of Snow Patrol's 'Run', judge Nicole said it was the most emotional performance she has seen from her, but still decided it was not good enough and sent her home.
She told Melanie: "You have the biggest range vocally, but I sometimes feel there is a disconnect with you."
An emotional Melanie was too upset to talk to show host Dermot O'Leary after and was seen by viewers walking off in tears.
It was Melanie's fourth time to enter the show.
She's got as far as bootcamp in last year's series, and made it to the judges' homes twice. Three years ago Kelly Rowland ended her X Factor dream at her Miami home.
Melanie, from Whitehall in North Dublin, was tipped to do well this year by the bookies following positive appraisals from Nicole and her fellow judges Gary Barlow, Sharon Osborne and Louis Walsh.
Last night saw Ulster woman Andrea Magee fail to make it to the live rounds after Sharon Osborne opted to let her go.
