Video: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, David Gandy and Helena Bonham Carter bring magic and sparkle to M&S Christmas campaign
MARKS & SPENCER’S will be hoping that their fairytale-themed Christmas advert, released online today, will be the 'Magic & Sparkle' remedy to their failing fashion fortunes.
The two-minute-thirty-second mini-film follows British model and actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley as she searches for her runaway pet dog in an alternate world based on the most famous of fables, from Alice in Wonderland and Little Red Riding Hood to Hansel & Gretel and The Wizard of Oz.
The 26-year-old is joined by male model David Gandy who obliges as the Mad Hatter to her Alice, the Scarecrow to her Dorothy and even as her handsome magic carpet companion. Meanwhile Oscar-nominated actress Helena Bonham Carter takes on the role of the green-faced Wizard of Oz, who back in the real world has found Rosie's wayward pooch.
The cinematic effort was directed Johan Renck, who has previously created music videos for the likes of Beyonce and Madonna, and will hit television screens on November 6.
Both Gandy and Huntington-Whiteley are already on the M&S payroll; as well as modelling for the store's Autograph range, Rosie designs a range of lingerie, which became the store's fastest-selling underwear line of all time when it debuted in August 2012, while Gandy is the face of premium men's range Collezione. It's the first time Bonham Carter has been associated with the high street giant.
