NEW mum Amanda Holden is expected to rejoin the judging panel on Britain's Got Talent next week.

The star, who was discharged from hospital earlier this week after her life-threatening childbirth ordeal, aims to rejoin the show a week tomorrow.

The 40-year-old has been recovering at her home in south west London with new daughter Hollie for the past few days after a three-day stint in a critical condition.

She is said to be feeling "upbeat" after giving birth eight days ago which led to her being kept in an intensive care unit.

Holden has not been replaced for the BGT auditions she has missed, and is now due to return when the show visits Edinburgh.

A friend of the actress said: "It is fantastic how well she is recovering, and she is feeling upbeat and very happy. Amanda is overwhelmed by all the lovely messages she has received."

The TV star is understood to have had a blood transfusion due to complications with the caesarean birth, but she and husband Chris Hughes have not given any details.

Hollie weighed in at just over 6lb, and the couple have another daughter, Lexi.
