TELEVISION adventurer Ben Fogle ended up in hospital suffering a 'psychotic episode' after his drink was spiked with LSD, he said last night.
The 39 year-old former Castaway star said he had a “full-on psychotic episode” and had to be locked in a room by his wife Marina until an ambulance arrived.
The father-of-two believes someone may have slipped an hallucinogenic drug into his drink while he was in a Gloucestershire country pub last Friday.
He was taken to hospital, but doctors were unable to find the cause of his 'episode', which he says left him acting like a 'madman'.
In an interview with the Daily Mail Fogle said: "I don’t like using the word, but I was acting like a stereotypical madman, I thought I was doomed, I thought I was going to die.
“My wife and friends kept trying to calm me down as I was threatening to hurt myself. I was 100 per cent out of my normal character.”
He added: “It was like having an out of body experience.”
Fogle told the paper he even began doing a sketch from the Monty Python TV show. 'I started doing very strange walks, like the Ministry of Funny Walks', he told the paper.
Fogle had to cancel a five-week trip to the Middle East for a BBC show while tests to uncover the cause of the episode were done.
He has appealed for the individual who allegedly spiked his drink to come forward.
