THE country's highest paid broadcaster Ryan Tubridy has apologised after a remark about a Filipino slave warming his seat on his morning radio show.

The 'Late Late Show' presenter was doing an outside broadcast from the RDS for the Young Scientist Exhibition on Thursday when he made the remark while talking about the weather.

"It's nice and warm in here today, we've got a heating system," he said. "The seat was even warm - they sent in a young slave from, I think, the Philippines to warm it up for the past two hours.

"Thanks for that, much obliged."

Tubridy, who earned more than €400,000 last year, said "sorry" to his listeners yesterday, and said it was an unconditional apology for a mistake.
