Strictly Come Dancing: Nancy Dell'olio 'set to become first contestant to score zero'
She describes herself as "special," claims her "exotic" looks put English women in the shade and has declared that her encounters with men are "unique and intense".
But Anton Du Beke may choose other adjectives to describe his experience of dancing with Nancy Dell’olio after the Italian property lawyer stumbled over her feather boa and attracted scorn from the judges.
Now the 50-year-old former girlfriend of Sven-Göran Eriksson has been tipped by bookies as the contestant most likely to score a zero for the first time in the show’s history after her woeful debut performance.
William Hill is offering odds of 3/1 that she will be given nil points for her next dance – despite the fact that the judges are not even equipped with score boards marked zero.
Miss Dell’olio is 100/1 to win the competition and 2/1 to be voted out in the next round.
She came close to quitting the show last week after producers refused to allow her to bring in her own hair and make-up team from Harrods, it was reported at the weekend.
The 50-year-old has become embroiled in a running feud with Edwina Currie, the former health minister, after declaring that the 64-year-old was “not glamorous enough” to be a serious contender.
The Italian scored 12 points for her first dance after she and Mr Du Beke became tangled up in her feather boa.
Craig Revel Horwood, one of the judges, described her performance as being: "like a curtain in a washing machine stuck on spin cycle".
Rupert Adams, a spokesman for William Hill, said last night: “If you looked at Anton he was clearly seriously embarrassed and cross, because Nancy was just not interested in trying. You have to wonder whether she’s even showing up to rehearsals.”
Mr Adams added that the odds of 100/1 on her winning the show were in fact a “terrible price” because “she hasn’t got a chance”.
Jason Donovan, the Australian actor and singer, emerged as the favourite to win the show with odds of 7/4 after an assured performance with his partner Kristina Rihanoff.
