RTE’s stars of daytime television have launched the station’s brand new afternoon show ‘Today’.
Maura Derrane and Daithi O’Se turned out at broadcaster’s Cork studio this afternoon to officially unveil the upcoming programme, which will air on weekdays from November 5.
The former Four Live and Afternoon Show anchors will take to the couch – in a set which has yet to be built - from Monday to Thursday where they will be joined by a panel of three guests.
Many interviews are expected to take place via live link-ups from around the country.
Co-hosts Blathnaid Ni Chofaigh and Norah Casey have been lined-up present ‘Today’ every Friday and the format will be based on ITV’s Loose Women.
Ms Derrane (42) told the Irish Independent this afternoon that she’s looking forward to getting back in front of the camera and is excited about the prospect of working with newlywed Kerryman O’Se.
“Daithi and I have never actually worked side-by-side together, but we get on very well,” she said.
“I loved Four Live, but Claire Byrne and Daithi got more opportunity to cover the heavier stuff. I’m very happy to be getting back into that and sinking my teeth into that again.
“It’s important to note that ‘Today’ will focus on issues nationwide, it’s not going to be a programme solely about Cork,” she added .
