Ryan's in the news... but Laura is in love

ONE PERSON who may not be transfixed by Ryan's Tubridy imminent and temporary transfer to London and the arms of the Beeb is Laura Toogood.

Once upon a time, a long time ago, Laura was Ryan Tubridy's Too-brief romantic moment. It sounded all too good to be true and -- say some sources -- it probably was.

But Rosanna Davison's BF seems to have found real love this time around.

The endearingly posh (well, she used to compete at under-21 level with her pal Zara Phillips for the British equestrian team) English beauty is dating former Fair City actor Yare Jegbefume.

According to friends, the hot new couple are fairly smitten with each other.

Laura, who used to model for Assets in Dublin and is now working in London, also for the BBC, is coming over to Dublin for Easter to meet his parents. Sounds serious.

Laura went out with Leigh Arnold's brother Nicky for two years. Sadly, they split up last summer.

Yare who you are, I always say. And Yare seems like a good one.

The redoubtable Mr Tubridy is, of course, another good one. And he's certainly following the trend that Grainne Seoige started -- that of the bi-locomotive broadcaster.

The Late Late host will sit in for Graham Norton on a Saturday morning show.

Ryan's super-agent Noel Kelly told your diarist exclusively: "I will be announcing it officially in two weeks, but I can tell you now... negotiations are at a very advanced stage."

Hence the two-week stay on the announcement, I imagine. Though there are expected to be no slips twixt cup and broadcaster's lip.

Asked would the work for the Beeb affect Ryan's own situation with RTE -- which pays him €533,000 a year -- Kelly answered: "Not at all."

The BBC looks to be almost as big a fan of Ryan's as Aoibhinn Ni Shuilleabhain was, when I saw them cosy in Residence last month.
