RTE warn of 'Late Late Show' ticket text scam

RTE has warned people about the dangers of responding to unsolicited text messages making false offers of free tickets to 'The Late Late Toy Show'.
Unsuspecting recipients have reported receiving two messages.
The first text instructs the receiver to call a premium rate number in order to collect the tickets, the second contains a link to a website inviting the person to register their payment details in order to cover a €20 'delivery charge'.
But if the person engages they end up being charged money, while RTE said no tickets are available this way.
It is believed that a UK-based group is behind the scam, and intended to send close to two million of these text messages.
In a statement, RTE said it does not provide tickets in this manner and is urging the public just to ignore the messages.
