RTE refuse to comment on speculation linking them to retired 'Off the Ball' crew
RTE have declined to comment on the growing speculation that the retired 'Off the Ball' team was about to join the national broadcaster.
Ever since it was announced yesterday that presenter Eoin McDevitt, Ken Early, Ciaran Murphy, and producers Simon Hick and Mark Horgan had resigned there has been speculation linking them with a move.
When quizzed on the possibility of a move, a spokesperson for RTE told Independent.ie: "RTE has no comment to make at this time."
RTE recently launched a new 'Sport at 7' show on 2fm fronted by Damien O'Meara that run from 7-8pm Monday to Friday and is in direct competition with 'Off the Ball'.
A source has told Independent.ie that McDevitt and co did not have any other project lined up in advance of their resignations and RTE have no intentions of bringing them in or replacing O'Meara.
