Oh my BOD! Amy stars in sitcom 'Threesome'

Home early (alas) from the Rugby World Cup, Brian O'Driscoll had the leisure to watch spouse Amy Huberman's starring role in Threesome, the sitcom that began this week on Comedy Central.

Very good she was, too, as the ditzy blonde who, after a night of drug-fuelled carousing, hits the sack with her two male flatmates, discovers she's pregnant and learns that the father isn't her dopey boyfriend but their gay pal.

The script (by Tom MacRae) wasn't up to much and there weren't really any definable jokes, but the endearingly grotty bedsit atmosphere was well captured, along with an air of benign lunacy.

The three leads, especially the game and droll Huberman, threw themselves into the general daftness with exuberance, though Pauline McLynn struggled somewhat in an underwritten and unfocused role as Amy's mother. And it's hard to know where the plotline (such as it is) will go from here. Still, it was rather winning in its silly way, though maybe it's just the actress who charms me.
