Niall Horan supports Ireland's X Factor hopefuls
One Direction's Niall Horan took a trip down memory lane over the weekend after recalling how he was discovered four years ago on the X Factor.
The hit ITV show was in town over the weekend for the first time in four years as they put the nations' hopefuls through their paces.
And the Mullingar superstar sent out his own message of support to the aspiring stars hoping to follow in his footsteps.
This is the first time since 2009 that the show has held auditions in the capital city after Simon Cowell claimed there wasn't enough talent here.
But Niall Horan proved him wrong, as did fellow X Factor star Mary Byrne, who was also discovered during the live Dublin auditions. And hundreds of wannabe singers queued up patiently outside the Convention Centre for their chance to show their talent.
None of the judges were present for the auditions but anyone who impressed was given a pass through to the second round. X Factor producer Mark Sidaway urged hopefuls to "come with something that's going to make you stand out from the crowd."
"If you look at previous successful auditions, people have come out and done something different," he said.
The X Factor juggernaut was in Cork and Belfast last month as they cast the net far and wide to find fresh stars.
This year sees Simon Cowell returning to the panel, alongside Girls Aloud babe Cheryl Cole.
No announcement has been made yet on who will claim the other two places on the panel.
