WILDCARD X Factor act Christopher Maloney is winning the weekly public vote, according to reports.

The leaked results, reported in The Star, claim the Liverpool native has enjoyed the strongest level of support since being voted back onto the show two weeks ago.

The paper has proved reliable in the past on reported voting leaks – it correctly reported that in 2009 Rachel Adedeji topped the vote on week 3 and in 2008 that Diana Vickers was 1pc away from losing out on a place in the top 5.

He has been the target of much criticism that his nerves are an act, an allegation this week’s eliminated contestant Melanie Masson refused to deny.

She fell silent when asked about Maloney, before saying: “He’s a showman – He comes to the stage with confidence and delivers a strong performance... he’s a strong character.”

A source also told the paper: “He’s not particularly liked backstage because he’s a diva and thinks he’s the star of the show. Most people reckon his nerves are a complete act too because it’s funny how he’s shaking one minute and then suddenly he’s fine.”

Meanwhile new pictures of the former Cruise ship singer have emerged, where he is seen to perform to an audience of 1,500 people – further pouring doubt on his claims he had no confidence to perform before the X Factor.
