RTE will go into party mode tonight as it kickstarts TV50 -- a year-long celebration to mark the 50th birthday of the station's television service.
Over the next 12 months RTE will delve into the archives, providing a trip down memory lane for viewers.
But tonight it's Miriam O'Callaghan who takes centre stage and gets the party started with 'New Year's Eve Live'.
She'll be joined by guests from the world of film, sport and television, while station stalwart John Bowman will be on hand to relive his standout moments from times gone by.
"It's quite a long show because it's staying on air after midnight to mark TV50," said said Ms O'Callaghan yesterday.
"It really is a stellar line-up. We have the likes of Jedward, Saoirse Ronan, Declan O'Rourke -- who will sing 'Galileo' live -- The Coronas and Paul Brady."
Dublin GAA heroes the Brogan brothers will be in studio to share a glass or two of bubbly at the stroke of midnight.
Also getting their slice of the action is rugby hero Donncha O'Callaghan, plus iconic sports broadcaster Micheal O Muircheartaigh, while there'll be comedy with the likes of Pat Shortt and PJ Gallagher.
"TV50 is less of a celebration of RTE and more of a reflection and celebration of Irish people looking back at ourselves," added Ms O'Callaghan.
Meanwhile, big things are promised in a special 50th anniversary broadcast of 'The Late Late Show' to be shown in May.
