WATCH out Marian Finucane.
Rival Miriam O'Callaghan is about to go live an hour before you on Sunday mornings with a brand new format.
Gone are the one-on-one interviews of her previous 'Miriam Meets' Sunday show in favour of a new 'live' one hour morning show from 10am on Sunday mornings on RTE Radio One.
"Miriam was under enormous ratings pressure hosting the John Murray Show but this is an acknowledgement that she held her audience. RTE now want Miriam to bring the same type of show to Sundays on RTE Radio One," said an RTE insider.
Although comedian Mario Rosenstock based a sketch on there being three Miriams, such are her appearances across RTE TV and radio, the mother-of-eight remains only a co-host of Prime Time and her TV chat show runs only in the summer months.
"This will be Miriam solo and identical to the format of the John Murray show which she presented on RTE Radio One from April to November," added the insider.
Miriam wished John Murray well yesterday as she filled in for the last time ahead of his return next Monday.
The Herald can reveal Murray returned to Montrose ten days ago in preparation for his first radio programme since he went off air in mid April.
A massive mailbag from well-wishers was awaiting the 49-year-old with letters from fans around the country keen to have him back on air.
The popular host is expected to thank listeners for their messages when he goes live at 9am.
But mystery remains whether he will comment directly as to the nature of the illness which resulted in his absence from the airwaves for nearly six months.
However the popular host is expected to thank RTE bosses who were said to have given him 100pc support during his time off-air.
Insiders say that he hopes to meet many of his listeners face-to-face on an upcoming walk he will announce on his show which is famous for its walking club.
