Meltdown in Carrigstown as Tommy holds ex-wife Judy hostage with shotgun
IT’S been building for months – and now viewers will see Tommy and Judy’s strained relationship reach a dramatic culmination.
For the last number of weeks viewers have seen Judy, played by Catherine Byrne, fall victim to a terrifying ordeal at the hands of a stalker.
Initially the doctor thought it was a disgruntled patient – however she made the shocking discovery it was ex-husband Tommy, played by Geoff Minogue.
He had erected a shrine to Judy in his attic, and was spying on her through a web cam.
Despite his promises to get help, and Judy believing he had turned the corner his obsession became worse than ever.
Now in shocking scenes to be aired this week, the relationship could reach a fatal conclusion.
Tommy creates a fantasy in his head that he and Judy are returning to live in Kilkenny together – and is prepared to go to extremes to make his dream a reality.
He follows Judy into her apartment with a shotgun and threatens her after she reveals she is seeking a retaining order against him.
Although the conclusion to the storyline is being kept a closely guarded secret, the outcome of the event shakes all the residents of Carrigstown.
Tommy and Judy moved to Carrigstown from Kilkenny several years ago with their four children – and initially appeared to be the perfect family.
However cracks soon began to emerge, as the reason they upped sticks was revealed to be Tommy’s infidelity.
His wandering eye got the better of him again in Dublin, and he soon began a months-long affair with neighbour Jo Fahey.
The couple tried to recover the relationship for the sake of the children, however after so much betrayal Judy found comfort in the arms of Tommy’s estranged brother, Luke.
Judy eventually mustered the strength to leave Tommy, and the relationship began to deteriorate.
When Luke was killed in a fire, it appeared the couple had reconciled their differences.
However since Judy entered a new relationship with restaurant owner Bob Charles, Tommy became obsessed with winning his ex back.
Fair City airs Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday at 8pm on RTE One.
