McSavage: I won't be on 'The Panel' any time soon
H is witty satire made his Savage Eye series one of RTE's most acclaimed programmes last year.
But don't expect its star Dave McSavage to host The Panel any time soon, or even guest on the weekly debate.
"The comedians on The Panel? I don't get on with that crowd. I don't watch it either," Dave told me.
The good news is Dave won't be missing from our screens for long as he has recently been spotted out doing vox pops on Dublin's Grafton Street, leading us to believe that The Savage Eye could be coming back for a third series. Insiders say that politics, education and (gulp) . . . the media are said to be the next targets for a 'Savaging' from Dave.
An interesting contributor to a Savage Eye special on politics could be Dave's own brother, former Fianna Fail Minister Barry Andrews, who recently lost his seat in Dun Laoghaire in Dublin.
"Barry is really nice guy but I haven't asked him," revealed Dave.
A by-product of the popularity of The Savage Eye is that audiences at Dave's stand-up shows have increased by nearly 50pc. "That's the power of TV, I suppose. But if The Savage Eye didn't upset them, what they hear at the gig will," said Dave.
