THE cast of 'Love/ Hate' had to tone down their Dublin gangster accents in the hope they would be picked up by UK television.

Actress Aoibhinn McGinnity, who played Trish in the hit series, revealed: "When we were filming the first season we were all watching our accents in case the London, or UK audience wouldn't understand us."

The cast's endeavours were successful as the crime drama is due to be aired by Channel 5 later this month.

McGinnity's latest role is in the German musical, 'The Threepenny Orchestra'.

Speaking at the launch of the Dublin Theatre Festival, she said: "I'm really excited to be working with some really good friends."

The festival kicks off on September 26 and runs until October 13.
