PRESENTER Kathryn Thomas has The Voice Of Ireland to thank for opening doors in the US.
The 33-year-old has jetted out to Los Angeles for a summer break with sister Linda who recently moved there.
However, her agent has revealed that Thomas had also secured a number of meetings with high-powered network executives during her six-week stay.
And a big boost to the Carlow woman's CV is her job as the host of The Voice Of Ireland.
"The Voice opens doors a hell of a lot quicker in LA. It's been a huge show in America so anyone good enough to host The Voice in another territory is somebody executives in LA want to meet," Kathryn's agent Joanne Byrne told the Herald.
Despite fronting two of the biggest shows on RTE, The Voice Of Ireland and Operation Transformation, the RTE star is keen to land new TV work in the US. "The more presenters work abroad, the more they learn, and those skills they bring back with them to Irish TV," added a source close to the presenter.
Kathryn admitted that on previous trip to the City of Lights, she called up some of the most important people in the US TV industry to introduce herself.
"I made it my business to go to Universal and to E! and meet the people who make TV out there. I wanted to know what it was like and, to be honest, I liked it a lot more than I thought I would," she said.
Her stint in the City of Angels will also see Kathryn spend time with sister Linda, who relocated to Malibu in recent months after landing a job with Google.
"Kathryn needed a break as Operation Transformation and The Voice Of Ireland overlapped for a few weeks so she was working really hard. She has some time off now but is looking forward to being even busier in 2014," added Ms Byrne.
The TV star remains single after her split last year from long-term love, Garda Enda Waters.
