The mockumentary format for comedy reached its apex at the beginning -- nothing will ever beat Spinal Tap for laughs. But it's an inventive format, and here comedian Katherine Lynch tries her hand with this three-part series about the professional lives of three Irish women (all played by Lynch): a country and western singer, a porn star and a belly-dancer.
The first episode follows Singing Bernie Walsh, currently travelling around Ireland to promote her new CD, Friends in Hiaces. She's desperate to do anything for stardom. This is in the spirit of the 'comedy of cringe' vein which is so in vogue at the moment, but there's good promise in the set-up.
