The star, who left the corporation last year to present a chat show on ITV, is the regular host of BBC4's World Cinema Awards.

The ceremony takes place at the BFI Southbank in central London on Tuesday November 15 and will be broadcast on BBC4 on Sunday November 20.

Channel controller Richard Klein said: "As the home of arts and culture, BBC4 provides a crucial platform for foreign-language film. We are excited once again to be presenting the World Cinema Awards and celebrating the diverse range of international cinema available in the UK."

The shortlist includes Spanish director Pedro Almodovar's The Skin I Live In, which stars Antonio Banderas and premiered at this year's Cannes Film Festival.

Other nominees are:

:: Of Gods And Men

:: Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives

:: A Separation

:: Le Quattro Volte
