Jenny Kelly quits radio show with hubby Ray D'Arcy to focus on family
Ray D'Arcy's wife and long-standing radio producer are calling it quits - on air.
The Today FM team are happily married and have two children Tom (two) and Kate (eight) together, and after much thought, Jenny Kelly has decided to focus full-time on their family.
They couple originally met when Kelly first began working on Ray's show in 2000, of which she would later become a co-presenter with her partner.
"I decided I was going to hang up my mic for a while," Jenny revealed on The Ray D'Arcy Show on Today FM yesterday.
"I was thinking long and hard about it. I came back to work in January and I decided after 14 years working on the show, give or take a baby or two, that I wanted to spend a bit more time with the kids.
‘It was all getting a bit hectic. You and I worked the same hours and we’re running out the door in the morning."
The pair were audibly emotional as they announced the news on air.
‘I decided it was now or never. Over the years I have met every type of person in every situation and I have got pretty much the same advice from everybody about kids. They have all said the same thing - 'it flies by'.
"They are only small for such a short time.’ Ray said: ‘Mostly it’s off air when you start talking about children and some people regret the fact that they didn’t spend more time with their children and you can’t get that time back. You can’t undo that.’ Jenny said she would greatly miss working in Today FM.
