Television viewers in Northern Ireland are bucking the national trend in the ratings battle between The X Factor and Strictly Come Dancing by throwing their weight behind Janet Devlin.
While figures at the weekend showed BBC1's Strictly had beaten the X Factor for the first time, Northern Ireland viewers remained loyal to the ITV series.
A UTV source said it was evident that the Northern Irish public was watching The X Factor to see the progress of the Gortin schoolgirl.
At its peak on Saturday night, The X Factor had more than half a million local viewers tuning in to see 16-year-old Janet perform compared to Strictly Come Dancing on BBC1 NI, which peaked at only 260,000 viewers tuning in to see the dancing competition.
