Janet Devlin reveals new rock chick look for X-Factor dons Jimi Hendrix t-shirt
WITH her new-look copper curls, wet-look leggings, Jimi Hendrix T-shirt and Converse boots, Janet Devlin looked every inch the rock chick as she showed up at the X Factor studios in London ahead of the first of tomorrow’s live shows.
The styling team behind the series worked their magic on the Tyrone teenager this week — dying her blonde/brown hair a Florence Welch red and giving her wardrobe an edgier appearance.
Even her teeth have been given the Simon Cowell treatment as she flashed a set of new pearly whites.
It's a far cry from the chunky cardigans and pretty slip dresses the 16-year-old has been known to wear, but she looked confident and relaxed as she posed for photographs outside the studios. And it seems Janet — the bookies' favourite to win — is delighted with the image overhaul.
After one of her 60,000 followers posted on Twitter, ‘can't believe @JanetJealousy died her hair!!', she replied: ‘Sorry :( But I've always wanted copper hair'.
Fashion stylist and editor of Sugahfix.com Katrina Doran said she loved Janet's quirky image and she hoped the stylists wouldn't experiment too much with her look.
“There is something very innocent and pure about Janet and her soft honey blonde hair suited her look,” she said.
“This new red hair is dramatic and makes her look pale. Maybe they were going for the stereotypical Irish colleen look or trying to copy a character form Twilight.
“Personally I would have kept her blonde but gone for something a little edgy like pastel-coloured panels underneath for a flash of colour. Of course they could have been trying to steer her away from blonde because she's been getting so many comparisons to Diana Vickers.”
Katrina said that she liked her make-up and her fashion sense.
“I love the way she wears her little white Converse with floral dresses, so I hope she gets to show that side of her on stage and that they don't sex her up,” she said.
“Janet has her own style. She's cute and I hope they don't try to make her something that she's not.”
X Factor is on ITV1 tomorrow night at 7.30pm
