It was a blast from the past last night as Boyzone, once the biggest boyband in the world, took to the stage for the Childline fundraiser at Dublin’s O2.

The boys looked like they’d never left the stage as they played some of their old favourites in front of the 12,000-strong crowd.

Inspired by the social media-savvy likes of One Direction and The Wanted, Ronan also posted a snap to his Twitter account before the gig.

Ronan later tweeted, "We had an Amazing night at Childline tonight. What an amazing Audience. Thank you to Caroline Downey and all involved."

Boyzone member Shane Lynch treated the thousands to a family affair as himself and his twin sisters, B*witched’s Edele and Keavy, sang a rendition of The Pogues’ famous Christmas song ‘Fairytale of New York’.

Former Westlife star Nicky Byrne (35) added another notch to his TV presenting career as he fronted the charity extravaganza.

Meanwhile, Byrne’s former band-mate Shane Filan played his first solo gig.

Inspired by the social media-savvy likes of One Direction and The Wanted, Ronan also posted a snap to his Twitter account before the gig.

Backstage, Nicky was supported by his wife Georgina and his baby daughter Gia.

Chart-toppers Little Mix, Union J, The Wanted and Conor Maynard also performed in a bid to help raise €400,000 for Childline.

The previous gigs have raised a total of €4.6m.
