She’s dead-lifted 110kg and squatted 95kg, but all Lisa Cannon wants to concentrate on now is her cup of tea.
The TV3 ‘Xpose’ presenter was joined by her husband Richard Keatley and her power-lifting coach on the couch last night to watch ‘Presenter to Power-lifter’, the documentary that followed her journey from the red carpet to the power-lifting championships.
“It was hard to watch but it was brilliant at the same time,” Lisa told independent.ie.
“I was so proud. I couldn’t believe the amount of tweets I received from people saying it was inspirational, that I was a role model for them.
“I definitely did not expect it to have that effect on people, it’s so wonderful. I was blown away.
“I’m so tired today but I’m so happy.”
The show, which tracked Lisa’s fitness journey towards being a first-time power-lifter, culminated in the Powerlifting Championships on April 5 in Drogheda.

With the IFTAs red carpet just hours away, the 35-year-old power-lifted weights in front of a large crowd and the TV cameras.
“There was only about six or seven women in the whole place,” Lisa said, “It was full of guys with massive muscles and my 5’3 self in the middle of it all.’
But, despite the once-in-a-lifetime experience, Lisa was looking forward to getting back into her daily routine.
“I do feel much healthier, when I have a drink now I feel like I’m cheating on my body,” she said.
“I was most looking forward to eating chocolate and cake again.
“All I’m concentrating on now is my cup of tea but if I’m considering a round two, I’ll let you know!
