FUNNYMAN Martin Maloney of Hardy Bucks fame was the first to take the bullet in the Celebrity Apprentice boardroom last night.
Martin was part of all-male team, Iconic. Boyzone's Mikey Graham acted as project manager and under his guidance the boys had to design and flog custom-made T-shirts in high street store Penneys.
Despite Mikey's less than impressive leadership skills, MCD boss Caroline Downey Desmond felt Martin lacked passion and so he had to go.
Being the first to leave was a difficult pill to swallow:."I didn't expect to get kicked out so early," he said.
"It was a bit embarrassing but watching it back I think it could have been anyone."
Both teams -- Iconic and Athena -- had to design and sell T-shirts to raise money for Caroline Downey Desmond's charity the ISPCC.
Selling is not Martin's strongest suit and he turned to Dublin street sellers for tips.
"I thought if we hustled like the ladies on Moore Street who say 'Strawberries for a fiver' we'd get somewhere.," he said.
"I asked one of the ladies what the tricks of the trade were, and she told me, 'You hold the item up and just shout at people'.
"So I tried that."
But despite his hard sell technique, Martin and the rest of Team Iconic failed to get rid of all their T-shirts.
He may have lost out on the show, but Martin has plenty of other projects to focus on -- namely working on the Hardy Bucks second feature film.
